These programs are increasing in locations such as Galapagos, South Africa, and the Bahamas, generating over US$300 million a year. Now, we must understand that being into a new habitat requires a special behavior to go unnoticed. So how do we have to behave under the sea?

Abaco Islands are located among the calm and shallow Abaco Sea, surrounded by crystal clear water perfect to go diving. The reefs are completely protected, giving a complete benefit to the marine life that is housed there. Due to their calm water, Abaco is the perfect place for beginners to practice shark diving almost any time of the year. In this area, sharks are very common to see, which allows it to be a perfect destination to experience this one of a kind thrill.

Diving among sharks has two kinds of activities: interaction and observation. The first one is about feeding sharks while you are in a cage as they pass by. We do not recommend this type of activity. Usually, animals tend to associate food with some stimulation, which, in this case, would be the humans. Sadly, this could cause a potential problem. According to Peter Benchley, Ocean Activist, habituating sharks to being fed by humans is one of the principal causes of why they react violently to the presence of humans who don’t come bearing food. Another reason is that it interrupts their habitat without going unnoticed. Affecting and changing completely their behavior and ecosystem overall.

We advise you to take the second option; observation. This activity does not involve any interaction or causes any kind of interruption on the shark's habitat. After descending to the bottom of the sea, all you have to do is wait and enjoy the view. After a few minutes, you will get an outstanding view teeming with big sharks acting as they would normally. Great to get amazing photography and a lifelong memory. This experience will fill you with joy!
