Just the idea of coming to this location is a life changing experience. These include the famous Galapagos giant tortoises, the world's only marine iguanas, Galapagos penguins and more. Some species found on the islands do not exist anywhere else in the world.

You can find 60 approved visitor sites across the archipelago. For example Galapagos Land Iguanas are found on the central and western islands and Galapagos penguin could be found around the westernmost islands, where cool currents keep the water temperature low. If you are traveling on a private yacht, it is necessary to schedule your visit with a local shipping agent. To proceed to enter to Galapagos is needed paperwork from the Ecuadorian Navy and Galapagos National Park, and a very strict quarantine (especially hull cleaning) procedures is required, also your itinerary must be approved by the GNPD. It is possible to visit some or all of the ports on the inhabited islands (Isabela, San Cristobal, Santa Cruz), but you cannot tour the other islands outside the main ports on your own boat without a licensed naturalist guide.
