It is made specifically for boat builders preparing recessed hatch openings that would originally have housed either a conventional hatch or an extremely expensive custom flush hatch. The hatch fits seamlessly into a specifically designed recess in the deck and cannot retrofit existing decks without modifying the deck. The precision of the fit makes for a sleek, modern look and means no more stubbed toes for boat owners.
