Sail Overview

MX5 range of Technora load path membrane racing sails are available for the serious racer. MX5 sails are available as a film/film (racing) or with single or double layer taffeta for added endurance.

MX5 Membrane Surface Types

MX5 Technora Racing: Film / Film
Top of the line racing sails in a film / film configuration. MX5 Racing genoas and jibs are available for modern sport boats up to the mid-size racer. Your option of Clear or Matte film.

MX5 Technora Racing: Lite Skin
Added abrasion resistance combined with a minimum of additional weight. Available as Light or Heavy and Black or Grey.

Technora Membrane

All Passes are Black Technora . X ply 1140 Black Technora @ 45 degrees & 20 mm spacing. Standard films are 0.75 mil clear. Taffeta films are 0.75 mil film with Dimension LS.

Designer's Note

MX5 Technora sail membrane only uses fiber reinforcement where it is required and not where it isn't! This keeps weight to an absolute minimum without compromising the performance and durability of the sail. Because weight has been kept to a minimum, it also means that some or all of the weight savings made where reinforcement is not needed can be used to add extra reinforcement to the high-load path areas of the sail. The fiber reinforcement added to the membrane is also a continuous directional filament, which accurately follows the load path lines of the sail.
