With its classic style, the Ocean Hatch is one of the most likely hatches to see worldwide. Fitted to thousands of cruising boats, especially in the tropics and higher-temperature climates, to provide ventilation inside the ship.

There are many reasons why boatbuilders worldwide, from 1991 until now, use the Lewmar Ocean series. The first one is its rugged construction and high-profile lid, which provide the ultimate protection against the elements, whatever conditions you might face, ideal for offshore ocean sailing and coastal cruising days. It also has an excellent hinge mechanism where it got a rugged hitch on the backside and then a little counter spring on the inside. They are called friction levers and hold the lid open in any position up to 95°.

Another reason is the anodized aluminum frame and base that prevent corrosion and keep it in perfect condition even for more than ten years.

Additionally, it has opening latches on both inside and outside. Therefore, you can lock it from the outside by pushing down the hatch and turning the latches. It also allows you to lock it so that it is not entirely closed to give you ventilation when you are not on board.
