The Maxwell Windlass range has an appropriate windlass for almost any boat. Maxwell features vertical and horizontal winches for chain rode and for rope and chain. Most windlasses feature an optional capstan for independent rope handling. A compact anchor winch such as the Maxwell RC suits smaller vessels and especially sailboats. A more heavy duty windlass such as a VW or HW works for larger boats.
Use the selection guide at the bottom of this page to determine which Maxwell windlass is right for your boat.
Maxwell VC and Anchormax Capstan
Buy a capstan to recover anchor rope on smaller vessels and for general rope hauling on larger boats. The Maxwell VC can be used as a docking capstan, secondary anchor winch, or general line hauler.
The Maxwell Anchormax capstan can be used as an anchor winch, davit winch, or pot hauler, as well as other uses. The compact design makes it great for smaller vessels (up to 32'), and installation is simple. The Anchormax is not suitable for halyards or for chain.
Maxwell VW and VWC Windlass
The Maxwell VW and VWC windlasses are available in low profile version or with a capstan for a secondary rope & chain rode or for other independent rope hauling. Port and starboard windlass versions are available. This Maxwell anchor winch also features manual free fall. The VW windlass features a horizontal installation option, so it can be mounted on bulkhead in locker, making it a particularly good anchor winch for sailboats. The VWC windlass can only be used with all-chain rodes.
Maxwell RC and HRC Windlass
The Maxwell RC vertical anchor winch features a redesigned chainwheel that grips rope more securely. The unique Maxwell Wave Design chainwheel make this windlass an excellent choice for rope-chain rodes. The horizontal HRC FF and HRC10 windlass versions also feature the Wave Design chainwheel, in an easy to install above deck package.
Maxwell HWC Windlass
The HWC anchor winch automatically handles all-chain anchor rodes. The independent capstan can be used for secondary rope hauling. Maxwell also offers a DBL dual gypsy version allows the retrieval of 2 chain-only anchor rodes, with a capstan for secondary rope hauling, docking, etc. Each chainwheel on this Maxwell anchor winch can be operated independently.
