mauri mx3 club racing sailsAramid (Kevlar and Black Twaron) Racing Sails (Advanced Low Path Membrane):

Built for the serious racing sailors. Not ready for carbon fiber? Twaron is the answer. Mostly use for a serious club racing campaign or national level regattas. Several options to choose from base on budget and wind conditions.

About Kevlar: Introduced by DuPont in 1971, Kevlar has become a predominant fiber in the racing sector of the sailcloth industry. It is stronger than steel for its weight and has a modulus that is five times greater than polyester.

About Twaron: Produced by Teijin, Twaron is chemically and physically similar to DuPont’s Kevlar®. High modulus Twaron has similar stretch properties to Kevlar 49, greater tensile strength and better UV resistance. Like Kevlar, the fiber typically has a bright gold color but is available in black.

Sailcloth: Twaron/Technora with Technora X-Ply Scrim
