HarkenHarken Crossbow Self-Tacking Jib System (50 mm)

The Crossbow™ is a self-tacking jib system designed for high-performance dinghies, skiffs, and catamarans under six meters (20 feet). The system features a curved track that hinges to align both car and track with the sheet loads for less friction, more load-bearing capacity, and for an ultra-lightweight design.

The two-piece car body is machined of 6061-T6 aluminum and Hard Lubeanodized for strength and corrosion resistance. Curved races evenly distribute the loads on Torlon® ball bearings for low-friction rolling. A Delrin® cap keeps the balls captive when the car is removed from the track. The hardcoat-anodized track has three pivoting attachment points that distribute the load.

Track is offered in 20 or 50 mm heights. Use 20 mm track for the lightest weight setup or for spinnakers with a separate tack and halyard system. Use 50 mm track with a single-line spinnaker

Harken Crossbow Jib System

Harken's Pivoting Crossbow™ Self-Tacking Jib System Brings Grand Prix Technology to Sport Racers

The pivoting track technology Harken developed for Grand Prix yachts now comes in a smaller package; the new Harken Crossbow™ Self-Tacking Jib System fits high-performance dinghies, skiffs, and catamarans under six meters (20 feet). With a hinged curved track that aligns to the load, this system reduces friction and increases load capacity for an ultra-lightweight design.

"We learned from the DAME Award-winning PCRX System that hinged track systems have an extremely high load capacity for their weight. Then we went one step further and replaced our traditional track profile with an I-beam, which is incredibly lightweight and works because the track pivots to align with the loads. The result is what Harken believes to be the best self-tacking jib system in the world."

Curved bearing races distribute loads evenly over Torlon® ball bearing to further reduce friction. Torlon ball bearings are captive for easy maintenance. The hardcoat-anodized track has three pivoting attachment points that distribute the load. The outer shape of the struts is curved to shed lines. Track is offered in 20 or 50 mm heights. The lower-profile 20 mm track is the lightest, and suitable for spinnakers with a separate tack and halyard system. The 50 mm track is for single-line spinnaker systems, and has a hole in the center strut for a fair, chafe-free halyard lead.
