Using Harken Charts

Finding the appropriate sailboat hardware for your sailboat

Almost all User Charts refer to sail area or rig dimensions in order to provide you with the information you might need to find the appropriate sailboat hardware. Follow these easy steps or call us: 1-888-756-8883 for immediate assistance.

1. Find the Rig Dimensions of your boat.

2. Calculate the sail area (if require by the User Chart).

3. Refer to the appropriate User Chart: Big Boat Blocks | Midrange Blocks | Travelers | Winches

4. Follow the links to purchase the correct block, winch, furling unit or other sailing equipment.

Example:

Assuming we are looking for a Double Block for our mainsheet system

Boat: Jeanneau 36 Sun Fast

Rig Dimensions: I = 44.6 J = 12.5 P = 44.6 E = 15.1

Mainsail Area: 370 sq. ft. ((( P x E )/2 * 1.10))

Go to the Big Boat Blocks User Chart and you will find that a 57 mm Low Load block will get the job done, therefore if you browse in Big Boat Blocks and then you follow the 57 mm link, you will find that the HAR1952 is the appropriate block for this application.
