Harken Carbo AirBlocks
Harken's long glass fiber injection molding techniques have produced an incredible strength-to weight ratio in a compact block. This is the most significant breakthrough in block design since the ball bearing block was introduced in 1967.
1. Patented Cam-Lock Three-way head locks shackle in front or side positions, or swivels freely to keep line from twisting.
2. High-Load Ball Bearings Low-friction, high-strength ball bearings allow powerful multiple purchase systems.
3. Smooth-Rolling Curved Bearing Races Curved bearing surface fits ball for more ball-to-race contact. Disperses load for higher strength, smaller block.
4. Lightweight, Strong Sideplates Nylon resin sideplates densely packed with long glass fibers replace stainless steel side straps. Blocks 30% lighter with a 60% higher working load than classic.
Glass fiber align with the contours of the block to reinforce sideplate strength. ...more
Harken Small Boats Blocks - Classic Blocks
Harken® Classic Blocks have stood the test of time. For over 35 years, these strong, light and exceptionally free-rolling blocks have provided both racers and cruisers dependably correct hardware for every trimming task.
1. Ball Bearings Carbon-black Delrin® ball bearings roll on flat races for exceptionally free-running blocks.
2. Stainless Steel Sideplates High-strength stainless steel sideplates distribute load evenly.
3. UV Protection Black ball bearings and sideplates are UV- protected to provide maximum durability.
4. Three-way Head Three-way head locks shackle in front or side positions, or swivels freely to keep line from twisting. ...more

Harken Big Boat Blocks
Black Magic® blocks evolved from the first AirBlocks® developed in 1992 for top level syndicate racers. Using Finite Element Analysis to remove excess material, our engineers produced a block optimized for maximum strength-to-weight. Today these low-friction, efficient, and easily-maintained blocks are used on boats from club racers to the most elite racing machines.
1. Isolated Metals Plastic isolators between dissimilar metals prevent corrosion.
2. Protective Finish Black Hardkote anodizing for scratch-resistant UV protection. Three times tougher than gray. Strong, Lightweight Aluminum sideplates are sculpted for superior strength-to-weight ratio. Edges are radiused to protect line.
3. Caged Rollers Torlon® roller bearings are separated to prevent racking and reduce friction.

Lewmar Racing Blocks:
Two types of block are available: one with roller bearings for rapid sheet trim and the other with plain bearings for high static loads.
Construction: Monocoque construction offers the best strength to weight ratio by incorporating the head block and bearing surface into the cheeks. Bayonet Fixing: Patented bayonet fixing means that central fastenings are not required and only two locating screws are needed in the head, further reducing weight and improving performance.
Cheeks: Flush fixings and radiused edges produce snag free cheeks with engraved logo and block size.
Shackle: The three position shackle post has a drilled out head for further weight reduction.
Bearings: Torlon rollers and Delrin side thrust balls provide optimum bearing for rapid line handling.
Torlon rollers on blocks above 80mm: Captive Delrin side thrust balls will not drop out when sheave is removed.
Lewmar blocks are specified for racing sailboats such as the Mumm 30 and other high performance sailboats. ...more
About Lewmar Synchro Blocks:
Use Chart for Cruising Sailboats: recommended block sizes
Small Boats (20 to 26 ft.): 50 and 60 mm blocks
Mid Range Boats (26 to 35 ft.): 60 and 72 mm blocks
Big Boats (40 ft. plus): 72, 90 and 105 mm blocks
Lewmar Synchro Blocks: The Swivel-Lock self-aligning head: An innovative Swivel-Lock head selfaligns to the angle of the line as it comes into contact with the sheave. A precise degree of free rotational movement ensures the line load is in optimum alignment to the block.
The Free-Spin self-lubricating bearing: A high-tech composite bearing combines high compressive strength with an incredibly low coefficient of friction to deliver a free spinning sheave with enormous load capacity. The high density material, is self-lubricating for long lasting, trouble free performance. ...more
