Designed for boats up to 48' with inboard rudders that have limited space aft of the rudderpost. These rugged and compact steerers are usually found on the more traditionally designed vessels where rudder feedback is desired.
The size 347-9 will accomodate boats up to 38' with 1.8 turns through 80 degrees of rudder travel.
The size 347-14 should be used on boats 38' to 48' in length and has three turns of the wheels through 90 degrees of rudder travel.
Designed for boatowners who require more cockpit space and rudder feedback and a safe, strong, dependable unit. These aft mounted Rack and Pinion Steerers are designed specifically for vessels that have a minimum of 12"(30.5cm) of space aft pf the rudderpost and where cockpit design requires the wheel to be mounted close to the rudderpost.
The 343-1 is for use with raked rudderposts. 1"(2.5cm) to 2"(5.1 cm) diameter with a maximum key of 3/8”(1CM) on the rudderpost. If you do not specify bore, the rack will be furnished with a 7/8”(2.2cm) pilot bore. The “A” dimension on the wheel shaft is standard at 15”(38.1cm) or is available to suit. Weight 30 lb (13.6kg). Included is one 1” Part No. 629 bearing.
The 344-1 steerer comes with a No. 679 Shaft Universal and two No. 629 1”(2.5cm) self-aligning bearings. The universal joint included with this steering system allows you to adjust the steering wheel through a 30° arc. Weight 34 lbs (15.4kg
