Spinlock PXR - The Cleat you tune for the way you race.
Claiming to be the “easiest cleat to release”, the new PXR camcleat features an adjustable release spring - a world first. A high performance development of the successful PX range, the PXR is optimised for performance rope ranges 2-6mm and 8-10mm.
The three-stage release spring can be pre-set for the prevailing conditions and application. Select lighter settings for continuously trimmed sheets, traveller controls, vangs and similar controls. Harder settings for halyards and occasionally adjusted lines. While sailing, the roller action of the PXR keeps the release effort easy, even as the wind strength increases.
The low profile body of the Spinlock PXR contains hard anodised CAM and Base surfaces for maximum grip and durability, whilst stainless steel rope guides provide a wide angle of control, with easy release from any angle.
T-series versions use the same (27 & 38mm) hole centres as traditional camcleats, allowing direct retrofit anywhere without drilling. This makes the PXR T-Series ideal for main sheet swivel systems on yachts and keelboats, as well as downhaul, vang and backstay applications.
The VP is a pivoting sheave and cleat unit for mast base or track. Its super-compact design is perfect for catamaran mainsail downhauls, providing a single line control to either side of the boat.
Spinlock PXR SW-series 2-6mm size is the preferred swivel mount choice of dinghy manufacturers for single line spinnaker hoists and single cleat control of jib sheets and vangs, whilst the 8-10mm size improves handling on big boat vang and downhaul controls.
Spinlock PXR Olympic Training
Currently training in Majorca, fierce competition within Olympic training squads in the Tornado and 470 has seen several teams converting to the new PXR Cam Cleat.
Using the T and SW Series to retro-fit in existing hole spacings, the PXR has been successfully trialed in a variety of applications replacing other heavier fittings. On the Tornado these have included using the 0206/SW on the genoa sheets and the 0206/VP for the spinnaker halyard and mainsail downhaul.
Performance users of the 0206/VP are discovering that the turning sheave can be upgraded to a Harken ball race version, Part Number HAR415.
