Ronstan Ballslide. Trackless Batten Car System.

Want to make raising and lowering your mainsail easier, but not interested in installing a new mast track? Take a look at the Ronstan Ballslide trackless batten car systems.

The Ballslide system uses low profile cars that install into the existing mast groove on low-friction feet and run on twin races of Acetal ball bearings.

Features: Patented system uses low profile cars running on twin races of Acetal ball bearings. Cars use the existing luff groove of the mast (no track or installation work required). Ball bearings are captive for easy loading and unloading of cars from mast. They can be easily switched between fully battened and “soft luff” mainsails. Minimum distance from mast to mainsail luff enhances mainsail efficiency.

PHRF and Coastal Cruisers: Basic Rig Tune Up.

We keep receiving inquiries about how to perform a basic mast tune up on a PHRF / Coastal Cruise 25 footer. Sometimes it is easier to undo your shroud tension and start all over again. If that is the case, we tend to follow these steps to tune the mast of a Club Racer or Coastal Cruiser:

First things first, step the mast and set it up so that the mast butt position allows you a little bit of rake (which will improve the pointing ability). Next, make sure that the mast is centered side to side in the boat where it passes through the deck. You have to measure from the side of the boat to the mast. Don't assume that the mast partners are centered, you would be surprised with how many times they are not. Measure side to side to find the middle - toe rail to toe rail going to the mast partners....more

New Product: Nexus Race Box.

The new Nexus RaceBOX gives the competitive advantage of Nexus race software in an affordable, compact and robust package. Interfacing with Nexus instruments via the Nexus Network, the RaceBOX provides sailors with a plethora of analytical information to existing Nexus instruments. A micro-processor facilitates processing abilities that were previously only available with a stand-alone computer.

Replacing a fragile onboard computer, the racer can now load polar diagrams directly into the processor from a SD card or USB. Calculations of Polar or Target Boat Speed are then displayed by Nexus instruments where they are most useful – on deck. Coupled with GPS it will also give time-to-burn and line bias on the start. Furthermore the RaceBOX records data to the memory cards that can be easily removed for post-race download and analysis....more
