Hosted by the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, the 2012 Australian 29er Nationals were a great success this year. Over the course of seven days (January 12 – 19), sailors faced unpredictable weather conditions in Waterloo Bay adding extreme intensity to the races. Mauri Pro Sailing was proud to be a sponsor of the 29er Nationals this year. We would like to congratulate all participants for their determination and great results during this competitive event. Keep sailing!

lijia xu mauri pro sailingA Committed Young Sailor Going After Her Goal

Lijia Xu, referred to most as Lily, began sailing at a young age. Once destined to be a swimmer, she changed her mind at the age of 10 and has now taken the racing world by storm. She has won many titles over the last few years allowing her to pursue her dream.

Several titles include 2006 Laser Radial World Champion, Bronze medal winner in the 2008 Summer Olympics for China, runner up at the 2008 Laser Radial Worlds, and the Laser Radial Class medal at the 2011 Olympic Test finishing fourth overall. All of these accomplishments, along with the help of coach Jon Emmett, have positioned her for a podium finish at the 2012 Olympics.

Mauri Pro Sailing, with the backing of Gill, provided Lily with some off-the-water clothing. We look forward to keeping our support in future regattas. We wish her and all competing sailors the best at the 2012 London Olympics.

Note: Due to required team agreements all Chinese sailors will be wearing gear provided by their own Olympic campaign management.
