Facnor Wire Furler STG at Mauri Pro Sailing

Maximun Luff - Simple & Light

The Facnor 3T and 4T "in & out" furling systems are quite similars in use to conventional furlers. However, with this type of furler, the headsail is fitted with snapshackle to the forestay wire and then can be quickly changed. Light and easy to operate, the Facnor STG 3T and STG 4T suits particularly monotype racing boats.

About Facnor Wire Furlers

Facnor Gennaker Facnor adapted the racing structural furler developed for ocean Open 60’ to 24 to 30 ft sailing boats. These furlers are in/out systems for Solent or small Genoa. They give the possibility of hoisting quickly a sail fitted with hanks as on any conventional forestay. This Facnor system is especially suitable for racing yachts.

Facnor STG In / Out Systems

Unlike the headsail furling and reefing system, but like the Gennaker furler, the structural wire furler does not allow reefing of the sail. It is an in/out system. The sail set on structural wire furler can be fitted with hanks or zip luff. The furling principle is simple: the continuous line drum transfers the rotation to the tack of the sail that furls round the forestay. After a few turns, the rotation is quickly transferred to the top of the sail. With the halyard swivel the sail can be quickly hoisted and lowered the sail as requested.

Facnor Wire Furlers - Maximum Luff & Lightness

The structural wire furler offers the same advantages as the continuous line drum: a constant furling power, a maximum luff thanks to the low profile drum that keeps the jib tack low. Extra feature: the saving in weight compared to a classic drum is around 10kg less than a conventional furling system. Ideal for racing boats!

Facnor STG 3T / 4T Structural Wire Furler

Facnor supplies the First Class 7500, produced by Bénéteau. This boat has been designed by Finot- Fauroux architects in partnership with the French Sailing Federation. The choice of the Class 7500 illustrates the perfect suitability between the STG 3T / 4T and the racing monotype boats.

The structural furler holds the mast unlike the Facnor Gennaker furler. Therefore, it supports the forestay loads. The principle is the same as the custom structural furlers installed on ocean racing mono- and multi hulls. However, the custom products are fitted with anti-twist fibre cable. The Facnor STG 3T only requires a standard monotoron wire forestay.
